Financial Support

Scott Christian University operates almost exclusively from income generated from student tuition. Furthermore, approximately 70% of the operating expenses are funded by local (Kenyan) income. While this means our faculty salaries and tuition are much lower than other Kenyan educational institutions (including other theological colleges), it reflects a commitment to grow in sustainable measures, as well as demonstrates local ownership of the institution. In addition to this, 80% of our faculty and 100% of our staff are Kenyan nationals.

While the commitment to self-sustainability remains a distinctive feature of Scott Christian University, there are always urgent needs for donors and personnel to assist in the growth of the University.

Giving Opportunities:

Monthly Giving: The University is very grateful to those who may consider partnering with monthly giving. These gifts assist to off-set the high costs of the daily operations of the University and free other resources for the growth of the Institution.

If you are interested in giving in this manner, you may either:

  • Wire funds directly to the Institution. (Contact the University for wiring instructions)
  • Send your gift through the Scott Christian University Foundation. This foundation exists to serve theological education in Africa, and particularly Scott Christian University. It has its own public 501(c)3 status and is able to provide tax-deductible receipts for any contributions. The foundation is committed to wiring 100% of all funds received.
  • Send your gift through Africa Inland Mission. Some people are more comfortable with giving through this, our partnering organisation. AIM will direct all funds to Scott Christian University, minus a 5% administrative fee.

Scholarships:One of the most tangible ways to assist the University is to provide a partial or full scholarship to a needy and deserving student. The University insists that the student’s local church provide the fees for the first full year of study, but thereafter, donors may assist in providing scholarship assistance.

Endowments: Scott Christian University Foundation has recently established two (2) endowment campaigns for the on-going needs of Student Scholarships, and salaries for Kenyan national faculty. The foundation is targeting at least $1 million in each of the two endowments. These endowments will allow us to provide yearly assistance to those students from the poorest regions in Africa; as well as to supplement the salaries of our Kenyan faculty to ensure that we recruit and retain the best African educators and theologians.
