SCOTT FARM

From crops and poultry to fish and dairy right on campus the Scott Farm is producing quality food for the university and surrounding community. In order to farm God’s way, taking care of the earth and still having high production for the amount of space used, minimal amounts of chemicals are used but the Scott Farm is run using modern production methods and technology.

Recently two green houses were added. These will be used to grow a variety of vegetables like tomatoes and also some herbs. With a production season of five months, even one greenhouse can return significant financial profit with the food that is produced.

Besides providing food the farm also seeks to engage the SCU community in learning about agribusiness. Having agriculture skills can be a way of sustaining livelihood, a business in which the sale of products and value addition are key aspects. In this sense the Scott Farm functions as a demonstration farm. In the future once the major initiatives are in place the farm will be registered with the government as a demonstration farm.

All are welcome to visit the Scott Farm to learn about agriculture and see the latest additions.
